SecuTABLET

Tuesday, 17 March 2015

Blackberry, Samsung, and IBM, three of the world’s tech giants, have joined hands to release the SecuTABLET, an ultra-secure tablet primarily aimed at governments and authorities. The tablet was announced yesterday at CeBIT 2015.
At the core, the SecuTABLET is actually an ultra-secure Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5, but with added encryption software features designed by Secusmart, a company owned by BlackBerry. Although the SecuTABLET can be used for ultra-secure communications, the tablet can also run unsecured apps such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and WhatsApp.
According to the official press release, the SecuTABLET offers high-end communications security by integrating SecuSUITE technology. SecuSUITE is the product of a recently-announced partnership between BlackBerry subsidiary Secusmart and Samsung Knox. A couple of months ago, rumors claimed that Samsung is interested in buying BlackBerry, but after quickly dismissing this info as false, the two companies jointly announced that they’ve extended their partnership involving mobile security solutions. The SecuTABLET also integrates IBM technology responsible for the secure app wrapping technology.
Worlds Most Expensive TABLET
Galaxy-Tab-S-Seite-3Since the SecuTABLET is based on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5, the hardware specs should include a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels at 288 PPI, a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5420 chipset (1.9 Ghz quad-core ARM Cortex A15 CPU paired with an ARM 1.3GHz Cortex A7 CPU in the big.LITTLE configuration, ARM Mali-T628 MP6 GPU), 3 GB RAM, and a non-removable Li-Ion 7900 mAh battery.
Priced at € 2,300, the tablet isn’t aimed at the consumer market, and as a consequence, chances are that we’re not going to see it commercialized through the usual retail channels.
What do you guys think of the BlackBerry’s SecuTABLET?

Windows 10 Technical Preview video

Friday, 6 March 2015

There’s a massive amount of interest in the upcoming Windows 10 release. The new operating system version will bring a unified experience for PC’s and mobile devices, so smartphones will be running it instead of Windows Phone. If you’re wondering what the upgraded OS will offer then we have a Windows 10 Technical Preview video look for you today that’s shown on the Nokia Lumia 635.

It’s always interesting to get a closer look at new OS versions and the video will give you a good idea of user interface changes and more. However, we need to bear in mind that this is not the final build, so more changes and features could be added before Windows 10 for phones releases to end users. In this article we’ve embedded a YouTube video link brought to you by jonesarena, which offers a look at the Windows 10 preview and gives some useful insight.

Image result for windows 10 previewOne thing to note about Windows 10 is that it will be coming to lower-end handsets as well as high-end models. The review begins by saying that on first glance the UI doesn’t look too different, but it then goes on to point out some of the subtle differences. Windows 10 includes changes to Live Tiles, a new wallpaper appearance, and a refreshed Settings menu, as well as drop down settings that can be configured by the user, and actionable notifications.

The video nicely runs through the various aspects of the above points showing what you can expect, and it also covers Cortana, the keyboard, notifications syncing, universal apps, and more. One thing mentioned on the video that you don’t get a chance to see is the Project Spartan web browser, which isn’t here just yet. Towards the end the reviewer notes that the technical preview is a little slow and glitchy, as is sometimes apparent when you watch it in action.
At the end you’ll also hear which other Lumia models currently support the Windows 10 preview. As well as the Lumia 635 others are the Lumia 630, 636, 638, 730 and 830, and people wishing to try out the technical preview can revert back to Windows Phone 8.1 if they choose. All in all this is a nice walk through the Windows 10 preview and we’d like to hear your thoughts.

BBM now support Android Wear and Touch ID

Tuesday, 3 March 2015

Read on, because BlackBerry has some new features to talk about for its BlackBerry Messenger platform, and they're pretty handy ones as well. Firstly -as was hinted at in January - it now supports Android Wear devices.
That means you can not only view but also reply to and start conversations from your wrist-worn gadget. It's now possible to send messages using your voice or pick from a list of preset responses.
Image result for BBM subscriptionsThere's also support for Touch ID in the latest version of the app for iOS, so you can unlock access to your account with a well-placed finger on your device's

BBM subscriptions

BlackBerry is also introducing some subscription options for serious users. For US$0.99 a month you can remove ads and sponsored invites from your feed, while US$1.99 a month gets you a custom PIN
We've made tweaks and squished bugs, resulting in the fastest and smoothest BBM experience yet. I think you're going to love it," writes BlackBerry's Jesse Ariss on the company blog.
Another small but helpful upgrade is the introduction of support for photos in group chats. Updates for BlackBerry 10 and Android are going to roll out tomorrow, while an iOS update is due "soon".

Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date and Price

Monday, 2 March 2015

The Samsung Galaxy S6 release date has been confirmed, with the newly unveiled flagship phone to hit UK retailers on April 10.

Set to launch in 20 countries in a little under six weeks, the April 10 S6 release date will see the handset go on sale just days after one of its biggest rivals.

Samsung Galaxy S6Having debuted just hours before the Galaxy S6, the HTC One M9 release date had already been announced as March 31.

Like its flagship sibling, the innovative Galaxy S6 Edge – which features a three-sided display – will hit retailers on April 10.

Although Samsung has been outspoken on its Galaxy S6 release plans, there is currently no word on how much the handset – which will be offered in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage capacities – will set wannabe owners back.

A dramatic improvement on last year’s Galaxy S5, the S6 features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2560 x 1440 pixel QHD resolution.

Boasting wireless charging capabilities as standard, the S6 specs sheet is further enhanced by the addition of a 64-bit, octa-core Exynos processor, 3GB of RAM and a TouchWiz skinned Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

With a 16-megapixel, OIS-enhanced camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel snapper up front, the S6 is shaping up as a true challenger to the iPhone 6 at the top of the smartphone stakes.

Do you plan on snapping up the S6 when it lands on April 10? Let us know via the comments section below.

The video link here shows you all of the details of Android Lollipop running on the Galaxy Tab S tablets. Both tablet sizes are seen here with the updated OS. One of the nice features the OS brings is multiple users.
The new OS looks the same on the tablets as it does on Samsung smartphones that run Lollipop. Colors, animations, and slides were all updated with the new version of the OS. It's unclear exactly when the OS will begin rolling out to owners of these tablets OTA. We hope that will happen soon.

How To Make Voice Calling On WhatsApp For Android

It looks as though that the voice calling feature went live for some users of WhatsApp earlier this month, but even better news is this – that voice calling for WhatsApp is now available to every single user out there. Of course, not everyone will be able to take advantage of this unique feature just like that, since there are several loopholes to jump through in the first place. For instance, you will need to have the most recent version of WhatsApp installed on your device, and that would be version 2.11.531, although there are whispers of voice calling being supported on 2.11.541, too.
Requirements
Apart from that, one is also required to have a smartphone or tablet that runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop or Android 4.4 KitKat as the mobile operating system of choice. Hence, should your mobile device be running on an older version of Android, you are out of luck – at least until the mobile operating system is updated, or you pick up a new device.
Image result for whatsapp callSo far, word on the street has it that those who happen to be privileged enough to qualify to enjoy the voice calling feature will first need to send their contacts a missed call prior to obtaining this feature.

BlackBerry software update

Saturday, 21 February 2015

BlackBerry rolled out a major software update on Thursday, allowing users of its entire suite of BlackBerry 10 devices such as the Z10, Q10 and Z30 to access Android applications, and a host of other features, including Blend.

Software offers access to Android apps
The company said the BlackBerry 10 OS 10.3.1 gives users the ability to access both the BlackBerry World appstore and the Amazon Appstore that provides access to a host of Android applications previously unavailable on the BlackBerry platform.
Image result for BlackBerry softwareIn addition, BlackBerry said the new software will allow its users to access its new BlackBerry Blend feature that impressed many, when it was unveiled last year.

The Blend feature lets users get message notifications, read and respond to work and personal email, text and other messages, while also accessing files, calendars, contacts and other media, on whatever device one is using. It works across a host of operating systems including Apple's Mac OS, Microsoft's Windows platform and tablets powered by Google Inc's Android software.
The software upgrade will also introduce the new BlackBerry Assistant, a digital assistant that can be used with voice or text command to help users manage email, contacts, calendar and other applications. It rivals offerings such as Apple's Siri and Samsung's S Voice.
BlackBerry said subject to carrier approvals, the software upgrade has begin to roll out to customers around the world, since Thursday.

Apple to start making electric cars in 2020

Apple Inc aims to begin producing an electric vehicle as early as 2020, Bloomberg cited people with knowledge of the matter as saying, a seemingly aggressive target for a mobile devices maker with little experience in car manufacture.
The iPhone maker is pushing its "car team" of about 200 people to meet that goal, Bloomberg reported. But Apple may decide to scrap its car-making effort, or delay it, if executives grew unhappy with its progress, the news agency cited the people as saying.

Canadian creme that removes tattoos

As hard as we try, most of us are going to do a thing or two that we regret over the course of our lives. This new creme will help erase some of those regrets, though: it can make tattoos disappear.
So far, Alec has been testing his miraculous creme on tattooed pig ears. It’s not exactly the same thing as testing on a human, but it’s a very close analog. Tattooists have been honing their skills on pig skin for a long, long time, so it makes sense that Falkenham chose to trial his topical creme this way.
Image result for tattooThe creme works by targeting the white blood cells (macrophages) that captured the ink originally injected by the tattooist’s machine. A treated tattoo doesn’t vanish instantly once the creme is applied. Multiple applications are needed, and Falkenham isn’t completely sure how many would be required for complete removal.
That magic number would likely vary from person to person, too. When he says, then, that treating a 10cm by 10cm area would cost around $4.50 per treatment, it’s hard to say how big a bargain that works out to. It would probably still be a great deal cheaper than a laser removal.
There’s bound to be a sizable market for this magic macrophage creme. Plenty of people don’t like the thought of having a tattoo zapped away with a laser, and others may just prefer being able to look after removal themselves in the comfort of their own homes.
Alec’s creme has one other potentially huge advantage: it won’t leave behind any unwanted scars the way laser removal can. He’s now busily working with Dalhousie University’s Industry Liaison and Innovation office to bring the creme to market, so painless at-home tattoo removal might be in your no-to-distant future.

Snapdragon 810 Runs better Than Snapdragon 801

Tuesday, 17 February 2015

Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810 chipset has no doubt managed to stay in the news prior to its launch than any of the previous Snapdragon chipsets. It all started with rumors of the chipset reportedly suffering from overheating issues. A few weeks later it was more or less confirmed that Samsung will not be using the Snapdragon 810 chipset on the Galaxy S6. Samsung’s key rival, LG, first claimed that the Snapdragon 810 chip doesn’t have any overheating issue and then later admitted that issue was indeed present but had been ‘fixed’.
Snapdragon 810
To finally put an end to all the conundrum, Qualcomm has released new test data that shows its new Snapdragon 810 runs cooler than the previous gen Snapdragon 801 that was used in flagship smartphones last year. According to the test conducted by Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 801 chipset hits the temperature limit of 45°C after playing the Asphalt 8 game for about 20 minutes at 30fps. On the other hand, the new Snapdragon 810 managed to keep going beyond the 30 minute mark and still didn’t touch the 45°C mark.
In the second test, two smartphones were used to capture Ultra HD video for about five minutes. The Snapdragon 801 powered device hit a temperature of around 43°C while the Snapdragon 810 powered device managed to stay significantly cooler and barely touched the 35°C mark. Lower heat generation also means that the device will be able to perform smoother as smartphones tend to throttle performance when they hit the thermal threshold. In the case of the smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 801 in the above test, at the end of 20 minute mark, the Asphalt 8 gameplay will start to show signs of lag, affecting the overall gaming experience. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 810 powered smartphone will keep delivering smooth gameplay with a consistent 30 fps frame rate.
Although we wouldn’t say that this test is enough to conclude that the Snapdragon 810 is completely free from overheating issues, it does indicate that the issues, if any, may have been solved by Qualcomm. One of the primary reasons why we do not want to take these results as final is the fact that these tests have been conducted by Qualcomm and not a third-party. Hopefully when Snapdragon 810 powered devices start retailing, we will have more strong evidence on whether the Snapdragon 810 chip has any issues with its thermal efficiency.
Meanwhile, an early preview of the Snapdragon 810 performance results are sort of mixed for now as the Snapdragon 810 doesn’t seem to be as big of an improvement over the Snapdragon 805 as Qualcomm had claimed. In the GPU benchmarks, the Adreno 430 on the Snapdragon 810 does prove to be around 30% faster than the Adreno 330 but still trails Apple’s A8 and NVIDIA Tegra K1 in terms of overall graphics performance. You can read more about the performance preview on this link.

Facebook launches free mobile Internet service

Friday, 13 February 2015

Facebook has tied up with India's Reliance Communications to provide basic internet services on mobile phones for free, making India the first country in Asia to get Facebook's Internet.org service.
The companies will first offer the app in seven of India's 22 regions, or zones and it will then go nationwide in the next 90 days, Gurdeep Singh, chief executive of Reliance's consumer business told reporters.
Image result for Facebook Internet.orgThe service is run by Internet.org, the non-profit organization whose backers also include Ericsson , Nokia, Samsung, Qualcomm and Opera Software, which has the declared aim of making basic Internet services available to the two-thirds of the world's population which is not yet connected.
The app, aimed at low income and rural users, will offer free access via mobile phone to more than 30 pared-down web services, focused on job listings, agricultural information, healthcare and education sites in seven regional languages -- as well as Facebook's own social network and messaging services.
It will be available to all of Reliance's 106.3 million subscribers who have handsets capable of handling internet traffic.
Singh declined to comment on who will bear the cost of carrying this data traffic for free.

Mobile phones sales have been booming in India, the world's second-biggest mobile market, with smartphone sales surging 90 percent in the October-December quarter. But less than 20 percent of the country's population can access the Internet -- leaving over a billion people offline.
Facebook said it had worked with Reliance Communications since last October to address barriers to connectivity.
Both Reliance and Facebook said they also expected to benefit from the venture over the longer term. India has the world's third-largest population of Internet users, and could take the number two spot this year.
"It gives us a great lever in terms of our proposition differentiation at the point of sale ... which will help us accelerate our acquisition journey of good quality, sticky customers," Singh said.

WhatsApp Plus Latest Version

Tuesday, 10 February 2015

WhatsApp Plus continues to release regular updates but a rather concerning news hit several news outlets. It seems that the original developer of WhatsApp Plus received a legal letter to halt future development of the app.
As of now the latest version is still functional and the ones who don’t have it yet here’s what new things have been added WhatsApp Plus version 6.7.
New Privacy Settings And Tools
In version 6.7 users can not check a contact’s activity. The app now checks contacts regularity and builds a log with the times when they were online, status changes, photo updates and so on. The app also includes a means of protection against the same feature by enabling users to hide their online status and disable blue ticks and the 2nd grey tick.
A new feature that was added is the ability to disable the typing/recording into in chats with a contact or with a group. This feature is completely new and could prove to be useful for the ones that have the tendency to write something then correct it multiple times before sending the message.
Interface Changes
The interface of the app suffered some changes. There are now floating buttons which are more in line with the design of Android 5.0 Lollipop. These floating buttons can be hidden if required. Also a new option to hide the search icon in the contacts screen has been added. In the chats screen a new configurable button has been added that users can customize any way they want.
Last but not least WhatsApp Plus is now available in multiple languages including German, Dutch, Portuguese and Turkish.
AntiBan Added In The Latest Version
WhatsApp Plus 6.7 managed to fix one of the biggest problems that their users faced. Facebook, the owner of the original WhatsApp application started banning WhatsApp Plus and forcing them to get the official app to have the ban lifted. The WhatsApp servers now check the client version and will only lift the ban if the version detected is an official one. WhatsApp Plus 6.7 managed to bypass this check by making the servers believe that the official version is installed. This way even people that were banned would get unbanned and could still use WhatsApp Plus. Prior to version 6.7, WhatsApp Plus users did not have any option to unban themselves.

MIcrosoft Wireless Charging Plate

Monday, 2 February 2015

At the 2014 International Radio Show (IFA) in Berlin, Nokia (Microsoft) has announced the DT-903 Wireless Charging Plate for Lumia phones equipped with wireless charging capabilities. Aside from being just a simple charger, the DT-903 Wireless Charging Plate also offers neat ‘ambient’ light notifications. If your phone is low on battery, or if you have a notification, such as a missed call, a new email message, or a text, it will start to glow, pretty much like a notification LED, something that’s missing from most (if not all) of Windows Phones.
If you live in the US, you can purchase the DT-903 Wireless Charging Plate from the Microsoft Store online for $59. The wireless charging solution will also be available in retail locations in the US starting this month (says the official press release, we’re quite sure it is referring to early February.

Wireless Charging Plate
If you’re wondering about the wireless charging standard used by the DT-903 charging plate, it use the QI standard. However, in order to use the device beyond its charging capabilities, your phone has to support Bluetooth 4.0 or higher, and needs to run Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1, which is really the Denim update, as well as Device Hub 3.6 or higher. If neither of the two aforementioned prerequisites are met, then you’ll likely not be able to use the notification functionalities of the Wireless Charging Plate.
