How to jailbreak iOS 8

Thursday, 23 April 2015

Jailbreaking has been around for a couple of years in order to make sure that people from all around the world get more out of their iDevice. As you may already know, iOS 8 Jailbreak was released recently, and the folks behind Pangu were the first to release a jailbreak that works well.
Still, before performing the iOS 8 Jailbreak of your iPhone, let’s see if it’s actually worth doing it, by quickly going through all the new features brought by iOS 8.
Access to battery usage stats: We all know that one of the iPhone’s biggest problems is the battery life. Of course, this happens only if you’re a hardcore user. Now, you can see which apps drain the most of your battery, enabling you to change their settings or even uninstall them in order to give your iPhone a few more hours of life.
Apple Pay: By far the most important update brought by iOS 8, Apple’s mobile payment system allows you to actually pay for the things you’re buying, using your phone. Several retailers, banks and app providers are already allowing you to use the service, so we’re basically looking at the future of payment systems here!
New camera features: Let’s face it, even though it doesn’t have tons of megapixels, the iPhone’s camera takes some really great shots! iOS 8 brings some cool new features, like a three-second timer and the ability of taking time lapse videos, alongside focus and exposure controls.
Interactive notifications: If you’re playing a game or using another app, there’s no need to exit it in order to reply to a message, as a banner will now appear on the top of the screen, enabling you to quickly do this. Also, while the screen is locked, you can easily dismiss notifications without unlocking it.

iOS-8-JailbreakWidgets: Yes, they’re present in iOS 8 now, but only in the notification center. Still, it’s a very big progress for Apple, which will definitely improve the accessibility.
Improved Siri: The voice assistant has received a couple of new features, in order to make things easier. While it’s plugged into power, it’s always listening and you can activate it just by saying “Hey Siri”, exactly like Android’s “OK Google”. Also, it comes with build-in Shazam integration, so from now on, just hold on the home button and you will instantly see the name of that song you really like.
Continuity: Another important feature brought by iOS 8 can be used in order to continue your work on another iDevice from where you left it. For example, if you’re writing a note on your iPhone, you might want to move on a bigger screen, you can switch to your iPad or Mac and finish it, as your iCloud account keeps everything synced.
Of course, these are just a few of the new features brought by the new operating system. It’s up to you to discover them, after installing iOS 8, following our instructions!
With this in mind, here’s a detailed tutorial, aimed at making sure that you’ll be able to easily jailbreak your iPhone and later install a ton of great Cydia apps.

iOS 8 jailbreak on Windows

Jailbreaking your iPhone with iOS 8 is considered extremely easy to do, mainly thanks to the fact that the folks behind Pangu have worked hard in order to make sure that people who are considering to jailbreak their iOS device will not run into any trouble, regardless of how much technical knowledge they have. However, it is important to remember that before you jailbreak, you should be fully aware of the advantages and disadvantages and use this knowledge towards making sure whether you’d like to jailbreak your iOS device or not.
  1. Check your iPhone

You’ll first need to check if your iPhone is charged and if it’s running the latest version of iOS 8. To do this, simply head over to your device’s settings, click on ‘general’ and then over on ’about’. If everything is fine, then you can easily proceed to the next step. In the case that you are running iOS 7 or an older firmware, then you can easily turn on the Wi-Fi of your iPhone, head over to the Settings app and then to the ”general’ section. Over there, you should be able to find a section labelled as ‘Software Update’. Simply click over on that and click on Install.

  1. Download the Pangu jailbreak

Now that you have the latest version of iOS 8 installed onto your device, you’ll need to go ahead and download the Pangu jailbreak on your computer for Windows from here and then proceed with the installation wizard. To do so, simply click on the app once it has been downloaded and click on ‘Next’ during the installation wizard to get everything set up and ready to roll.
  1. Connect your device

Once Pangu has been installed on your computer, you can go ahead and connect your iPhone to your computer via USB. Once this is done, the name of your device should appear on the app’s screen. Additionally, a wise thing to do is to exit iTunes in the case that it automatically pops up in order to make sure that it doesn’t start syncing your iPhone for any reason whatsoever.
  1. Start Jailbreaking your device!

After everything that has been mentioned until now has been done, you’ll be easily able to follow the wizard and jailbreak your device as soon as you click on the blue button.
During the process, your device will most likely restart a couple of times while certain images may appear on your screen. Don’t worry and simply wait for the jailbreak process to finish. An important factor to keep in mind is to stop yourself from unplugging your device before the process is over, as this can cause a lot of damage.
Once the jailbreak has been installed, you can stat downloading apps via Cydia in order to get access to many features on your iOS device. For a list of the best Cydia apps and Cydia tweaks, simply check out the dedicated section right here.

How To Fix Strong Satellite Receiver With LnbF Error

Tuesday, 7 April 2015

Lnbf Failed message usually means two things.

1 Short in your RG6 Cable,
2 Blown or failed Tip42C Transistor in the main panel of the receiver.

The problem of some strong receivers is that it kept on displaying error Lnb F  causing no function to the control buttons.
How To Fix This Issue
Image result for strong decoder Tip42CFirst Disconnect your RG6 feed from the receiver If the message goes away then you know that is a cable problem.
If message does NOT go away when you disconnect then you know the problem is with the Tip42C Transistor.
First check for Voltage with the components in connection

Need a voltmeter set at DC Volts
With receiver ON you should be getting voltages switching between 13V-18V DC when changing between Vertical and horizontal TP's
.
If no voltage present or only 20V present then most likely you have a blown Tip42c or KA317 transistor.
These unit switches the voltages to your Lnb 13V and 18V

18V = Horizontal TP's
13V = Vertical TP's

Take the top off your box look on circuit board for a little black transistor ( it has metal top with hole, the heat sink, and three pins on bottom) located about one inch in front of where you hook sat wire.
Make sure you get right replacement part Tip42c or in the case of other decoder products KA317.

The Tip42C is located directly in front of the shiny box that your coaxial cable is connects to.

It is Black and plastic with metal extending above it with a hole in metal and has 3 pin legs which are soldered to the board,

Tip42C or KA317 is printed on the black plastic face.

NTE332 transistor is a direct replacement if you can't find the Tip42C.

Tip42A or Tip42B is for some other strong decoder models, so always check to replace with the right parts for it to work.

Available at most decent electronics stores.

To replace make sure you take note of the way it is oriented,Unscrew from heat sink if one is present, pull out your main board, from the bottom desolder the 3 legs using soldering iron and solder sucker, insert new transistor and resolder, Connect heat sink if one was used originally.

Ethiopia launches 4G mobile service

Monday, 6 April 2015

Ethiopia's state-run telecoms monopoly has launched a fourth generation (4G) mobile service in the capital Addis Ababa, aiming to catch up with the high-speed communications available in some east African neighbors such as Kenya and Uganda.
Africa's telecoms industry is booming, with subscribers across the continent totaling almost 650 million in 2013, up from just 25 million in 2001, according to the World Bank.
But analysts say high-speed connections are vital to maintaining growth and supporting the wider economy.
Ethiopia is one of the last African countries to have a state monopoly in telecoms and has lagged some neighbors in rolling out 4G, which offers much faster speeds than 3G, allowing users to browse the Internet more easily and run complex applications.
State-run Ethio Telecom is committed to improving its network, however. The 4G service, initially able to serve 400,000 subscribers, is part of a $1.6 billion deal signed two years ago with Chinese firms Huawei [HWT.UL] and ZTE to expand mobile infrastructure throughout Ethiopia.

Ethio Telecom’s Head of Communications Abdurahim Ahmed told Reporters the 4G network had taken eight months to build.
The firm said internet packages would range from 420 birr ($21) a month for 2 gigabyte (GB) of data to 3,600 birr ($180) for 30 GB.

Vast parts of Ethiopia, including the capital, still suffer from occasionally patchy mobile reception.
Ethio Telecom's plans have been complicated by a dispute over the cost of upgrading the existing network, which led it to cancel a slice of ZTE’s portion of the $1.6 billion deal. Sweden’s Ericsson replaced ZTE in December.
The $1.6 billion project also aims to also double 3G capacity to 60 million subscribers by the end of the year in the country of more than 90 million people.
Government officials have ruled out liberalising the telecoms sector, saying the revenue it generates is being spent on railway projects. Ethiopia plans to build 5,000 km of railway lines by 2020.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S Get Android 5.0.2

Saturday, 4 April 2015

Recently, Samsung has been rolling out the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the devices in its portfolio. The next device in its portfolio to taste this update is apparently the LTE version of the Galaxy Tab S 10.5. Previously, the Wi-Fi only variant of this tablet got the Android 5.0.2 OTA update.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (photo taken with Canon PowerShot SX150 IS)To date, we do know that this particular update will be limited to a handful of countries over in Europe, where the likes of Slovenia, Czech Republic, Croatia and Switzerland have already been confirmed. Considering how the build is already complete, do expect even more widespread availability to hit the market. It is touted that this particular firmware will weigh in at a massive 1.7GB, not to mention sporting a T805XXU1BOCC internal designation with a March 17 date.
If you do not happen to live in any of the listed countries, and yet are excited to pick up this Lollipop update, perhaps performing a manual install might be a better idea.
Recapping the specifications, this Galaxy Tab S 10.5 was launched on June 2014 and sports a 10.5-inch display with a 2560x1600 pixels. It is powered by a 1.3GHz Octa-core Exynos 5 Octa processor along with 3GB RAM.
On the storage front, Tab S 10.5 is equipped with 16GB of internal memory, with an expansion slot of up to 128GB in the microSD card.

Battle for African Internet users

Monday, 30 March 2015

Google and Facebook are at the forefront of a scramble to win over new African Internet users, offering freebies they say give a leg-up to the poor but which critics argue is a plan to lock in customers on a continent of 1 billion people.
Africa's Internet penetration will reach 50 percent by 2025 and there are expected to be 360 million smartphones on the continent by then, roughly double the number in the United States currently, Mckinsey Consultants data shows.
Image result for African InternetAfrica had 16 percent Internet penetration and 67 million smartphones in 2013.
This growth is attracting interest from Internet companies such as Google, Facebook and Wikipedia, which are striking deals with service providers such as Vodacom, MTN, Bharti Airtel and Safaricom to offer users free, or 'zero-rated' access to their sites and services.
Facebook, through its Internet.org program, offers a stripped-down version of its social network and some other sites for free in what it says is an exercise to "connect the two thirds of the world that doesn't have Internet access".
Google, in partnership with Kenyan mobile phone firm Safaricom, is rolling out its "free zone" in Kenya, where email and the Internet are available with no data charges, providing users stay within Google apps.
Google has said its "free zone" is aimed at a billion people without the Internet in the developing world.

France's Orange is offering free access to a pared-down version of Wikipedia in some African countries, while South Africa's Cell-C gives its customers free use of WhatsApp, a messaging service owned by Facebook.
DIGITAL CHAIN
Critics, however, say big service providers and Internet companies are luring African users into using their services, giving them opportunities for greater advertising revenue.
"It's like a drug pusher giving you a small amount and saying: 'If you want more, you have to come and buy it'," Africa Internet access specialist Mike Jensen said.
Image result for African InternetGiving Africans free access to some Internet sites may also stunt innovation and limit the opportunities for African entrepreneurs, making online technology another industry on the continent dominated by big foreign companies.
In Nigeria, 9 percent of Facebook users say they don't use the Internet, mobile service survey site Geopoll says.
"You are giving people the idea that they are connected to this free open world of the Internet but actually they are being locked up in a corporate digital prison," Niels ten Oever, head of digital at rights group Article 19, told reporters.
REGULATION
There are also concerns that regulators in Africa lack the capacity to track how telecoms companies allocate bandwidth. Telecoms firms sometimes limit Internet speeds for some content, known as "throttling".
Telecoms operators say self-regulating bandwidth usage is important to ensure heavy data users, such as people who download movies, don't clog up bandwidth for lower Internet users.
The United States passed rules in February to ensure greater "net neutrality", intended to make sure all content managed by service providers in the U.S. is treated equally on the Internet, despite opposition from telecoms companies.
But African countries don't have tough rules on "net neutrality", meaning some services could be given faster access than others, which some activists say could give bigger companies an advantage over new market entrants.
The 24 sub-Saharan African countries tracked by Internet monitoring site WebIndex have "evidence of discrimination" in the allocation of bandwidth and have "no effective law and regulations" on Internet freedom.
"There is little transparency into the Internet operators' deals so it is hard to see where conflict of interests might be," Jensen said. "You're left just having to trust them."
Despite concerns about limited regulation and an uneven playing field, many experts argue that any improvement in Internet access in Africa should be welcomed, given it could improve education, grow businesses and alleviate poverty.

Android 5.0.2 rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Tab S

Friday, 27 March 2015

It looks like the Android Lollipop update has started to roll out for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets, as owners of the 10.5 inch model have started to receive the update in France.
The OTA(over-the-air) update will be coming to the Wi-Fi version of the device, which carries the model number SM-T800. The update carries a build date of March 17,2015.  Users can find the update by clicking on Menu-Settings-About device- Software update.
But this is not the only way to install the update. The update can be installed using the Kies software utility found on Samsung devices.
It’s not available to everyone, but we can confirm that some users in Europe and others in the US have been able to get the update.
The update is 930MB in size and Samsung France has confirmed that the update is definitely available for Galaxy Tab S 10.5 WiFi owners in France.
Some owners in US and Canada have also been able to get the update so we are assuming that it is slowly rolling out to owners gradually this week.
The update brings a range of new features to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 including Google’s material design.

Mortal Kombat X gameplay

Tuesday, 17 March 2015

We have some lovely footage for you to watch, if you are currently excited about Johnny Cage being the latest Mortal Kombat X roster addition.
The old-school fighter has now been fully revealed and following on from the main unveil last week, we can now show you the three Johnny Cage variations in MKX.
johnny-cage-stunt-doubleThese are going to be A-List, Fisticuffs and Stunt Double. Each variation will offer a new fighting style for Cage, with some disabling some moves that were possible in the other two variations – but at the same time, gaining new abilities that are exclusive to that variation.
Stunt Double is a good example of this, as when this variation is active, you’ll be able to create a double of yourself and perform a shadow kick without your character moving towards the opponent.
In other words, your stunt double moves for you and you can use this move to create some devastating combos that look fantastic – it’s almost similar to some of Noob Saibot’s moves if you like from MK9.
You can check out all three variations in action below and see gameplay showing each of them. Johnny Cage was obviously kept until the end for anticipation purposes, but we honestly can’t wait until launch now.
Imagine how good Liu Kang is going to be when he is finally revealed too – we have a feeling that NetherRealm has decided to keep him until last.

Mercedes E-Class for 2015, 2016 models

Mercedes Benz is working on two new models, one for 2015 and the other for later in 2016. The cars in question are the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLC and the 2016 E-Class, and fresh details have come to light, such as their engines and anticipated launch dates.
The new GLC will yet again be a rival to the Audi Q5 and is expected to be released in the UK this summer, whereas the fifth-generation E-Class is due to launch by the middle of 2016, so still plenty of time for things to change in terms of its final design.
Due to the raft of 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLC changes the German carmaker has decided to ditch the GLK name, although the main reason is because it shares a lot of the features as the C-Class.

There is to be a range of new engine options from in-line four-cylinder, V6 petrol and diesel. These new engines will be mated to either a seven-speed standard transmission or a 9-speed version. It’s also worth noting that those petrol and diesel models will be turbocharged.
Autocar also reports that the 2016 Mercedes E-Class engines will offer the same engine range as the C-Class, which is also used by the range-topping S-Class. There is to be a plug-in hybrid version, a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine from AMG and also a more powerful E63 AMG 5.5-litre version of that engine.
That’s as much as we know for now, but we will keep you informed of any other updates in regard to these upcoming models.

Trade your old phone for a new iPhone

Apple’s Reuse and Recycling Programme invites you to trade in your old Apple handset for a few bucks to put towards a new iPhone, but we’re hearing that the scheme is on the verge of expanding.
Anonymous sources say Apple will soon start accepting Android and BlackBerry handsets, from those looking to make the leap to the SS iPhone.
f
That’s the story over on 9to5mac, where sources reveal the new exchange programme will roll out in the “coming weeks”, upon completion of “extensive training”.
Essentially, Apple employees will be tasked with putting a value on customers’ Android and BlackBerry phones – based on condition and operability, and subsequently dishing out Apple gift cards accordingly.
Curiously, there’s no mention of Windows Phone, which presumably means Apple isn’t interested in your Lumia handset.
In an effort to sweeten the deal, Apple will help customers switch their contacts from Android to iPhone, but other data – including photos, video and music – will have to be transferred by customers. Of course, logistically, that’d entail doing a full backup of your phone's data before handing it over to Apple.
We’re not told where the new programme will launch specifically, but the aforementioned Reuse and Recycling thingy has rolled out in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia.
If anything, we suspect it’ll be the US first, with the UK hopefully hot on its heels.
