Wireless pain relief device

Thursday, 16 July 2015

A prototype surgical tool that combines preoperative CT data with state-of-the-art sensing technology could put the ability to carry out complex operations in the hands of many more doctors, according to its developers.
The hand-held device, called Chimaera, could revolutionize the delivery of miniaturized neurostimulators to specific nerves, and give many more patients access to pioneering new pain management technology.

"Pain is simply a series of electrical signals as transmitted through the nervous system, whether that's pain from a broken leg or pain from a headache. So by putting an electrical signal directly into target nerves - in a known way, you need to understand the waveforms to put into that nerve - you're able to lessen, override or deliver particular signals which influences how your brain is experiencing things," explained Simon Karger from technology developers Cambridge Consultants.

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Update for Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4

Monday, 11 May 2015

Samsung has rolled out the Android 5.0.2 OS update to its flagship Galaxy tab S 8.4. The Galaxy tab S 8.4 is one of the best compact  Android tablets around.. At first, it was just the WI-Fi only versions receiving the lollipop update, but now even the LTE-equipped models are getting the same treatment too.
Of course, this does not immediately apply to all regions. Some places get it first like Hong Kong, while others have to wait weeks, even months in some cases before they can enjoy the upgrade.
The update files are currently available over the air and users can already  start reaping the benefits. Samsung is rolling this out in phases around the world, but everybody should be able to avail of it within the month.
Image result for lollipop update for samsung galaxy tab s 8.4The update to the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 will include the features you would expect from a lollipop upgrade such as new quick settings toggles, new improved recents menu for easier multitasking, multi-user support, guest user, screen pinning, Android Runtime (ART) full support, native battery-saving mode, intelligent notifications ranking and improved security. They also bring lots of touchwiz improvements and bolder and more colorful interface elements.
Since Samsung is not exactly known for being quick on the draw when it comes to Android updates, people have been eagerly awaiting this one. Not so much with their handsets because that has improved some over the years, but the tablet is a different animal altogether. They have been slow to push out Lollipop. It could seriously take weeks before it rolls out to everybody. If you cannot wait any longer, check out Samsung Kies for the update.  This might speed up the process.
The user experience will be much better as they have done major tweaks on the old Kitkat builds. The improvement will be noticeable and as promised, it will be more enjoyable to use. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is a much more pleasant experience with the Android 5.0.2 update. I would not go so far to say night and day, but the difference is huge.

Microsoft announces new Edge browser

Friday, 1 May 2015

It’s out with the old and in with the new at Microsoft’s BUILD conference. Microsoft’s browser has always been called Internet Explorer, but it looks like the company has finally acknowledged that the IE brand has been hopelessly tainted. The new Windows 10 browser will be called Edge, and it comes with one unusual feature — Edge can use Chrome and Firefox extensions.
This browser is a big redesign for Microsoft, which has relied on iterative changes to Internet Explorer all these years. The code name was Spartan, and that should give you a clue as to the approach being taken. Edge is designed to be slim and fast. It drops support for legacy technologies like ActiveX and browser helper objects. It runs on a new rendering engine called EdgeHTML, which is a fork of Microsoft’s IE engine known as Trident. Edge will include deep integration with services like One Drive and Cortana as well.
edge 2Launching a new browser inevitably comes with some growing pains as users are forced to do without many of the extensions they’ve come to rely on. Microsoft’s solution to this is allowing users to install extensions designed for both Firefox and Chrome. You won’t just be able to install the Chrome or Firefox version of a plugin, but Edge will understand the extension if it’s tweaked a little. Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore says the popular Reddit Enhancement Suite add-on was ported to Edge with virtually zero work. It’s similar to Microsoft building support for Android and iOS apps into Windows 10.
Edge will be the default browser in Windows 10 and Windows Phone 10. It’s going to have its own HTML and JavaScript extensions eventually as well, but by not implementing a completely different extension system, Microsoft is making it easier to transition to Edge. For once, maybe people will. After all, Chrome is getting awfully bloated these days.

Facebook launches video calling

Tuesday, 28 April 2015

Facebook Inc introduced free video calling in its Messenger phone app on Monday as the company seeks to transform its mobile messaging service into a full-featured platform with the same reach as its 1.4 billion user social network.
Messenger, with more than 600 million users, now has a video icon at the top right corner of its screen. Earlier this year, Messenger launched voice and video calling between computers. (bit.ly/1KorYLD)
Image result for facebook video callingMessenger competes with Microsoft Corp's Skype, Apple Inc's FaceTime and Google Inc's Hangouts, all of which allow video calls between mobile devices or computers.
At Facebook's annual developer conference in March, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerburg said the social network would introduce myriad features within Messenger. For example, users can also send money to friends within the app. Facebook also unveiled a platform that enables developers to easily create apps that function within Messenger.
"Adding (video calling) to Messenger instead of the main Facebook app maybe ties in to Messenger's mission where it's a real core person-to-person app," said Brian Blau, research director at Gartner Inc, a U.S. technology research and advisory firm. "Now they're really enticing people with more features."

Video calling is available on devices using Apple's iOS and Google's Android mobile operating systems in Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the United States and Uruguay. Facebook said additional regions will be added in the next few months.

How to jailbreak iOS 8

Thursday, 23 April 2015

Jailbreaking has been around for a couple of years in order to make sure that people from all around the world get more out of their iDevice. As you may already know, iOS 8 Jailbreak was released recently, and the folks behind Pangu were the first to release a jailbreak that works well.
Still, before performing the iOS 8 Jailbreak of your iPhone, let’s see if it’s actually worth doing it, by quickly going through all the new features brought by iOS 8.
Access to battery usage stats: We all know that one of the iPhone’s biggest problems is the battery life. Of course, this happens only if you’re a hardcore user. Now, you can see which apps drain the most of your battery, enabling you to change their settings or even uninstall them in order to give your iPhone a few more hours of life.
Apple Pay: By far the most important update brought by iOS 8, Apple’s mobile payment system allows you to actually pay for the things you’re buying, using your phone. Several retailers, banks and app providers are already allowing you to use the service, so we’re basically looking at the future of payment systems here!
New camera features: Let’s face it, even though it doesn’t have tons of megapixels, the iPhone’s camera takes some really great shots! iOS 8 brings some cool new features, like a three-second timer and the ability of taking time lapse videos, alongside focus and exposure controls.
Interactive notifications: If you’re playing a game or using another app, there’s no need to exit it in order to reply to a message, as a banner will now appear on the top of the screen, enabling you to quickly do this. Also, while the screen is locked, you can easily dismiss notifications without unlocking it.

iOS-8-JailbreakWidgets: Yes, they’re present in iOS 8 now, but only in the notification center. Still, it’s a very big progress for Apple, which will definitely improve the accessibility.
Improved Siri: The voice assistant has received a couple of new features, in order to make things easier. While it’s plugged into power, it’s always listening and you can activate it just by saying “Hey Siri”, exactly like Android’s “OK Google”. Also, it comes with build-in Shazam integration, so from now on, just hold on the home button and you will instantly see the name of that song you really like.
Continuity: Another important feature brought by iOS 8 can be used in order to continue your work on another iDevice from where you left it. For example, if you’re writing a note on your iPhone, you might want to move on a bigger screen, you can switch to your iPad or Mac and finish it, as your iCloud account keeps everything synced.
Of course, these are just a few of the new features brought by the new operating system. It’s up to you to discover them, after installing iOS 8, following our instructions!
With this in mind, here’s a detailed tutorial, aimed at making sure that you’ll be able to easily jailbreak your iPhone and later install a ton of great Cydia apps.

How To Fix Strong Satellite Receiver With LnbF Error

Tuesday, 7 April 2015

Lnbf Failed message usually means two things.

1 Short in your RG6 Cable,
2 Blown or failed Tip42C Transistor in the main panel of the receiver.

The problem of some strong receivers is that it kept on displaying error Lnb F  causing no function to the control buttons.
How To Fix This Issue
Image result for strong decoder Tip42CFirst Disconnect your RG6 feed from the receiver If the message goes away then you know that is a cable problem.
If message does NOT go away when you disconnect then you know the problem is with the Tip42C Transistor.
First check for Voltage with the components in connection

Need a voltmeter set at DC Volts
With receiver ON you should be getting voltages switching between 13V-18V DC when changing between Vertical and horizontal TP's
.
If no voltage present or only 20V present then most likely you have a blown Tip42c or KA317 transistor.
These unit switches the voltages to your Lnb 13V and 18V

18V = Horizontal TP's
13V = Vertical TP's

Take the top off your box look on circuit board for a little black transistor ( it has metal top with hole, the heat sink, and three pins on bottom) located about one inch in front of where you hook sat wire.
Make sure you get right replacement part Tip42c or in the case of other decoder products KA317.

The Tip42C is located directly in front of the shiny box that your coaxial cable is connects to.

It is Black and plastic with metal extending above it with a hole in metal and has 3 pin legs which are soldered to the board,

Tip42C or KA317 is printed on the black plastic face.

NTE332 transistor is a direct replacement if you can't find the Tip42C.

Tip42A or Tip42B is for some other strong decoder models, so always check to replace with the right parts for it to work.

Available at most decent electronics stores.

To replace make sure you take note of the way it is oriented,Unscrew from heat sink if one is present, pull out your main board, from the bottom desolder the 3 legs using soldering iron and solder sucker, insert new transistor and resolder, Connect heat sink if one was used originally.
